IRISH BAND, "THREE MEN IN KILTS" TO PERFORM AT
"PARISH THE THOUGHT" BOOK SIGNING
ROSWELL, Ga. (January 22, 2008) – The popular Irish band known as Three Men in Kilts will perform traditional Irish music during the signing of John Bernard Ruane’s "Parish the Thought, An Inspirational Memoir of Growing Up Catholic in the 1960s."
Ruane will talk about the book and sign copies of it at Prairie Trails Public Library, 8449 Moody Avenue, Burbank, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. Three Men in Kilts will perform before he speaks and during the signing.
Marty Connolly, Bill Hannigan and Dan McGuire have performed as Three Men in Kilts since they combined their musical talents in 1994. Each band member and Ruane grew up on the Southwest Side of Chicago attending St. Bede the Venerable, the parish depicted in the book. The Irish trio credits the Sisters of St. Joseph at St. Bede’s for inspiring their musical talents at a young age while Ruane’s credits his 5th grade teacher as the first person to encourage him to write.
"When I first heard the Kilts perform on the Irish Hour radio show, I was really impressed,” said Ruane, who learned that one of the band members is Marty Connelly, who has a prominent place in “Parish the Thought” as the coolest altar boy on the face of the earth, able to blow his fallen locks back over his head with the greatest of ease. “The four of us are proof that good teachers can have a very positive and long-lasting effect on some of their students.”
The first printing of “Parish the Thought,” is nearly sold out and the hardcover will not be reprinted. A limited number of books are being held for sale to those attending the Prairie Trails event.
“Parish the Thought,” is published by Roswell Press. More information is available at www.Parishthethought.com.
