Two Thumbs Up for "Parish The Thought" from Critics and Readers

ROSWELL, Ga., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- While cases of the new Harry
Potter book were making a loud collective thud as they were being plopped
down in bookstores across America, a light pitter-patter may have been
heard in some bookstores where a few copies of "Parish the Thought" were
being shelved. Thus the life of a small book in a Harry Potter world.

But despite the lack of hoopla, the little book of inspiration and
faith is drawing great praise from both critics and readers. Author John
Bernard Ruane's "Parish the Thought, An Inspirational Memoir of Growing up
Catholic in the 1960s," was launched on June 4 and since then has received
positive reviews from the media and letters of appreciation from readers.

"It's very encouraging to receive this type of response," said Ruane,
who spent three years researching and writing his memoir. "Readers can
relate so personally to this story that they tell me I have written their
life story. But that's why the story of growing up Catholic in the 1960s is
a universal experience for millions across the country."

And from the media's response, the book has no religious parameters.

Joanne Anderson of the Mississippi Press wrote, "'Parish the Thought'
is an inspirational story for Catholics and Protestants too. This is a good
read."

Rick Kogan of the Chicago Tribune and WGN Radio said, "John Ruane has
written a very personal story, but it is one with universal appeal. His
stories, observations and adventures will resonate with any reader. This is
a brave and great book!"

Suzanne Haugh of the Georgia Bulletin stated, "This a story of faith,
rich in its traditions and beliefs, and which holds a significant place in
the lives of many."

The book is available at bookstores across the country or through

Author John Bernard Ruane shares the evolution of his faith beginning
with his entry into a Catholic grammar school and tales of the good and bad
teachers, as well as the priests and nuns who affected the lives of so many
impressionable young Catholics. A chapter that has received great reader
response is on Miss Pasco, a beautiful mini-skirted blonde teacher who
introduced all the 5th-grade boys to the forbidden land of lust before she
was fired in 1968 for protesting the Vietnam War.

"The greatest value this book offers to readers is the story of lost
faith that is regained and strengthened," said Ruane, referring to the time
he stepped away from his Catholic beliefs. "My hope is that those who have
lost their faith because of a tragedy that occurred in their lives, will
find some hope through my experience."

"Parish the Thought" is published by Roswell Press.
